Two of my great passions are dogs and science.
More and more dog trainers are now using modern science based training techniques and it is my great pleasure to support and encourage this growing trend.
You can read about positive reinforcement dog training techniques in my book, and in the training sections of my websites.
Working dogs
I work my own gundogs in the shooting field and we spend our winters ‘picking-up’ on the pheasant shoot that my husband and I run together in Surrey. I share my life with the scruffy ‘gang’ in the picture above!
The gang
We have two Labradors, and three working Cockers. My labs are Tess (above), a fox red bitch from pure working lines and Rachael, a chocolate lab puppy from mixed work and show lines.
The cockers are Molly (bottom right), Meg (bottom left) and Meg’s daughter Phoebe (top right). Cockers have a very special place in my heart and never cease to amaze me with their strength, courage and devotion.
Dog Blogs
I have three dog blogs. The largest and busiest is The Labrador Site which now attracts around half a million visitors each month. You can find some of my most popular (and controversial) articles there, including ‘Silver Labs – The Facts About The Silver Labrador Retriever.
The Labrador site also has a busy forum, and a thriving facebook page which is a real community with over 270,000 fans.
For the gundog enthusiasts amongst you I run a Facebook group called Positive Gundogs, and have a website called Totally Gundogs where I post most of my gundog training and shooting related articles.
I also run a blog to help people find and care for their puppies. It’s called The Happy Puppy Site, where we are building a reference library of all the different pedigree dog breeds, such as Bulldogs and Labradors, with details of their history, health issues, costs, and care needs. We even review a range of popular crossbreeds including the controversial Pomsky
I hope you’ll drop in and say hello.
I love receiving comments and questions on the blogs and always do my best to answer. So do drop in and check them out!
