Less than a year old, The Happy Puppy Site was launched to compliment my Happy Puppy Handbook and provided complete online resource for those caring for, or looking for, a puppy.
The website enables us to go into more detail on important topics, and cover a range of other interesting material.
The site is already proving popular and visitor numbers are now growing strongly, and we are producing a range of articles each month covering four key areas
- Puppy search
- Puppy care
- Puppy health
- Puppy training
Last month kicked off with a topic that many new puppy owners are interested in – alternatives to vaccination. And we also discussed ectropion, a common health condition in some breeds.
Our puppy care articles covered keeping your puppy’s ears clean, and 5 simple rules for feeding your puppy. And for our training section we looked at why modern puppy trainers use food, and showed you 3 ways to train your puppy to sit.
In our puppy search section, we try and cover at least one breed of dog each month, this month it was Dachshunds. We also drew near to concluding our basic ‘puppy search’ series with Part 14 – should I chose a male or female puppy

Hi Pippa, not sure you’ll get this. Here goes. We have a 22 week old standard poodle, Cassie. We’ve been to puppy training classes for a month – great till we do it ‘in the real’! Also all a bit fast. Got your Total Recall book. Read it carefully, got the whistles. Realise the importance of the steps. Exercise 1, great, wonderful: quivering excited puppy associating the whistle with the wow. Ok, exercise 2, whistle means dinner or wow: STUCK! Excited at whistle, at wow, but dinner…nah, don’t fancy! Help, what to do, where to go?
Hi Sue, do join my forum so we can help you 🙂 See you there! http://thelabradorforum.com – you don’t need a labrador!
